Why Visit Milan?

When you mention a visit to Milan, people say it’s a polluted, ugly city with tough, rude people they say. Well, they clearly haven’t experienced this wonderful city for themselves! Milan is an attractive and charming city with a vibe that can balance old-world romance and history with urban grit and cosmopolitanism. Not only that, this city is surrounded by some of Central Europe’s stunning countryside! This city is known for being the fashion and shopping capital of Italy, and while this is true, there are so many more things to see and do on a visit to Milan.

Less tourists

As you know, Italy is a very popular destination for all types of travellers, and most of them flock to the cities of Rome, Venice, Florence, and Sicily. This is exactly why you should choose Milan! While there are still crowded touristy spots, this city still retains that true Italian feel.

Milan Cathedral

This should be at the top of your list of things to do in Milan, it’s the must-see monument of the city! The Milan Cathedral is the symbol of the city which can be found on Piazza del Duomo, the historic centre and best starting point for any stay here.

La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Just outside the cathedral on the Piazza del Duomo, you need to have the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II second on your list of things to do in Milan. This place is photogenic and luminous, with arcades and domes made of glass and glass. The Galleria is said to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. If you head inside, you will find those luxury designer shops you’ve been searching for, including Louis Vuitton and Prada, and you can even stop for a high-end bite to eat!

People Watching

As this is Italy’s undisputed fashion and design capital, you won’t be surprised to see that Milan’s population is very well dressed. From quirky fashionistas to slick old-timers, there’s no shortage of style walking the streets of Milan. This is also a relatively small city, so you will catch a glimpse of the chic residents no matter where you are, which makes it perfect for a spot of people watching.

World-Class Cuisine Beyond Italian!

In this exciting and cosmopolitan city, you will find an exciting food scene that goes beyond the classic Italian and Milanese. The culinary scene here is bursting with creativity and experimentation, both in terms of food and the setting. If you’re up for trying some signature Milanese dishes, why not try Risotto alla Milanese (saffron risotto), Cotoletta alla Milanese (breaded veal cutlet) and the traditional Panettone (Christmas loaf).

We’re only offering very simple reasons for visiting this wonderful city, but I promise you when I say we could give you many more!

Milan also makes for a perfect stop on any eurailing adventure, why not add it to your list of destinations?
